No news is still no news. Lucas' live-action not so active atm...

Every once in awhile we get a little nip of info about the Star Wars TV shows. Slowly but surely, Clone Wars is coming along, and the live action show is creeping in behind it. It's just so painful to think that it will probably be several or more years until the live-action show comes to our TV screens - but then again, when it finally gets here, perhaps because so much time will have passed since the last Star Wars film, we will feel a similar nostalgia for the prequels as we have/had for the original trilogy.

Here's the lates nip of info, from the LA Times. Snifters optional (I prefer straight out of the bottle meself):

George Lucas planning 'Star Wars' TV series

"Filmmaker George Lucas said Tuesday that he has "just begun work" on a live-action television series rooted in the "Star Wars" universe, which is huge news not just for fans of the science-fiction epic but also for networks looking for a piece of the Lucas magic that has grossed $4.3 billion in theaters worldwide...

... That model (the upcoming animated Clone Wars series) may also be used for the live-action show, although producer Rick McCallum said Tuesday that it's too early to say. McCallum is interviewing writers for the live-action series.

Lucas is confident he can find a home for his droids and Jedi, but he also knows the projects are unorthodox enough to give network executives pause."

That's why I think us fans need to encourage George to create his own gorram television network. Are ya with me?

Yeah, I borrowed this pic from the article. Love it!

I'll be okay with it taking years for the live-action show to make it to air. They need to take as long as is necessary to make it good. I think this will be their biggest challenge yet, to create that Star Wars feel in a live-action show and somehow keep the look and spirit of the movies. If it works, it could be great. So, I'll wait. By then, my daughters will be old enough so that it will be like the OT was for me.

Fall 2010 would work for me.
That way we would have had about a year of Clone Wars and accompanying madness, plus Celebration V - and then a bit of anticipation.
I just hope he doesn't take too damn long so that my excitement wanes...

i would rather my anticipation waned. lol - that way, the pain of waiting will be alleviated, and when it comes out i will be more or less pleasantly surprised (hopefully). it's these non-news moments that really jar my wagon :p

it's an interesting pattern spanning a few generations! the OT for us oldies, the PT for us oldies the next generation, and now the coming TV shows for us oldies, the next generation, and our kids (well, i don;t have any! but for rj and co), and in some cases - grandkids!

'Tis indeed an interesting pattern (though I could hardly put you in the 'oldies' category - more like a 'middly') ;-)

As an aside, did you end up watching 28 Weeks Later? What did you think? It was a bit KFC for me - sounded more appetizing that it was.

havent watched 28 weeks yet. nope. but KFC is completely unappetizing to me, so maybe my lower expectations will be helpful. for horror it usually is. i really have only been into j-horror lately, because its at least.. interesting?

but then again, Kazakstan Fried Cauliflower could grow on me. i hope it doesn't. that could hurt.

Don't get me wrong, I don't like KFC - but twice a year I get a craving for it - then immediately regret it - LOL.
As for J-horror, I'm all J-horrored out - the Korean stuff is pretty good though, but the last decent movie I saw from that neck of the woods was The Host.
Right now I'm into my obscure European horror - there's some gems in there, I can tell ye :-)

heh - i should say that with "j-horror" i really mean "a-horror" as in 'asian'. the mythologies and folklore are just different, and even though a lot of it uses western concepts, it's still just different enough.

i just got so sick of american shock flicks. ever since movies like saw became popular, and then there was rob zombie. now he really p's me off. and i'm a punk rocker - i loved his music. but ever since he started to make movies i lost all respect. tries way too hard to be culty and shocking. the timing is just so wrong (imo) in such a way that it seems pretentious and naive.

lol - end rant.

give me the classics, or give me something that is completely foreign.

and btw - KFC mashed potatoes would probably be a nice twice a year thing. otherwise, i'm mostly vegetarian (seafood only), so i wont be experiencing whatever it is they say they are frying kentucky style :p

I really hope that it isn't too long either before these shows finally air, but even if excitement does wane, GL really is a master at marketing and publicity for his projects and they won't be overlooked. That Skywalker Ranch link was cool! But... Ewok Lake??! lol. It really is a beautiful place and seems to be very well done, especially that library! Wow!

I like that pic of GL you picked. :D

Well, there's my Kentucky Fried comment.
