Warwick Davis likes us better

The under-4-foot multi-talented actor known as Warwick Davis blew off his very own red carpet Narnia premiere so he could appear at the Disney Star Wars Weekends events. Okay, so maybe he had a pre-scheduled contract, but still... he could have broken it if he really wanted to.

So he likes us fans better. Right? Well, in that case he likes Will Smith better too, because Will is a huge fan:

"You might think he has run out of ambitions, but Smith confesses he is harbouring a secret dream: "I can remember going to see one of the Star Wars movies when I was about 12, and I was the most amazed that I have ever been in a theatre in my life. If they ever want to cast me in another of the Star Wars films, well, I would be more than interested.''" Daily Telegraph

Well, I love you too Will. Did I just say that out loud in text?


Oh, and Warwick Davis also likes these two guys on Hawaii's channel 9 Sunrise show better. Star Wars triva battle to the death!

Minnesota news meets the GFFA

Captain EO creepier than SWHS?

I say yes! One must wonder if George Lucas, and perhaps Francis Ford Coppola, are embarrassed about Captain EO as George is about the Holiday Special. Over at i09 they go so far as to contemplate Michael Jackson starring in Star Wars. The horror!

Interestingly, the reverse doesn't have the same effect on me. There is something quite gratifying about seeing Vader and his troopers reenacting Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Hayden's hot new spread

Okay, I just couldn't justify spending the $15 on the HUGE new men's fashion magazine Man About Town, which features Hayden Christensen in issue #2. Maybe I'll have a fangirl breakdown in the coming weeks. I did flip through and it's quite a hefty spread in quite a hefty magazine.

Jason Geyer's Star Wars nerd dream come true

This news is a little dated (from Feb '08) but I'm just now landing on this article from Action Figure Insider online by Jason "ToyOtter" Geyer about his path to Star Wars nerd enlightenment in the toy and merchandising industry. I don't think I'll ever comprehend the "all Star Warsed out" part, at least not in a permanent sense. Otter shares some ideas that did and did not make it. It's prolly better that we never saw the Star Wars sun shield come into fruition, because I woulda bought that sucker and drove around with it on!



Other awesomeness includes taking part in the creation of life-sized characters for a Pepsi campaign for The Phantom Menace. I'll take one Darth Maul please.

Star Wars miscellany and Site O' the Week.

I keep finding little tidbits lately, so I figured I should share..

- Arizona residents of the Tempe variety should be proud to host the state's largest movie theater, which will be kicking off it's grand opening with a fund-raiser featuring a special screening of Star Wars. A Cine Capri spokeswoman explains why Star Wars holds sentimental value for the company.


- This week's Star Wars Site O' the Week goes out to the UK periodical Empire Magazine's online locale for Star Wars: http://www.empireonline.com/starwars/

Empire has been covering Star Wars since the very beginning, and now with CE on it's way, they are getting particularly amped up with contests and 30th anniversary features. I have been drooling over the 30 Star Wars covers for awhile now. So if you're headed to London in the next couple of weeks, check out empireonline for all things Star Wars, even custom trooper helmets!


- Thought you were alone in relating everything in life to Star Wars? You've got more company than you think!


- The new sci-fi: A very interesting discussion about the state of sci-fi today from The Guardian Unlimited UK. Not Star Wars specific here, but it still gets mention (of course). New Battlestar Galactica heavy, however, with a dash of Heroes and Lost, a daub of Doctor Who, and a sprinkle of Firefly, Buffy, and X-Files. There's a slight Star Trek aftertaste.


- This last bit is a couple of months old now, but it still deserves mention me thinks, especially since the honor was made official last weekend:

The VES (Visual Effects Society) distinguished what they revere as the top 50 most influential visual effects films of all time, of which Star Wars made it to the very top (grats George and ILM!), and speaking of Blade Runner lately, well they got the second spot!
