This handmade miniature Chewbacca Mouse by Etsy (spotted by i09) is so cute, that it was tested against Ewoks. The Chewbacca Mouse trumped the Ewok's in cuteness so much, it actually made the Ewoks look like ogres. Just see the test results for yourself:
Even in a standalone trial, the Chewbacca Mouse is undeniably cute
= CUTE
But when put side by side with an Ewok, the results are quite clear. Ewoks start looking like slobbering ogres, and the Chewbacca Mouse actually becomes even cuter!
= OGRES
= CUTER
The trial was even performed with baby Ewoks after the beta stage, just to be sure. I think you can guess what the outcome was.
= HIDEOUS
= CUTEST EVAR
No Chewbacca Mice or Ewoks were harmed during this trial (Well, not a lot of Ewoks anyway)

A few posts below I posted the recent article about McCain challenging Obama to a lightsaber duel, and it reminded me to post a link to Worth1000.com's recent Star Wars Photoshop results, which has a Renaissance/fine art theme this year. Entries closed on 7/21, so here you go!
In the meantime, I'm busting out Photoshop concerning this most recent lightsaber duel challenge, and hopefully you are too!
Here's one of my faves from Worth1000 this year (even though all the entries are really quite stunning)

Okay John McCain. You really did it this time. Do you really think you can challenge Barak Obama to a lightsaber duel and *not* have yourself personified as the evil Emperor? I mean, c'mon.... you're a Republican, so of course your lightsaber will be red. You're what... twice the age of Obama, if not three or four times? Okay, maybe Yoda, but you're as pasty as the driven snow, and have a severely scarred face. Fans around the world are churning away with Photoshop right now. Speaking of...

Gizmodo explains it best:
"These gigantic Japanese nerds just rigged up an R2-D2 DVD Projector into a server monitoring system that alerts them whenever a system is down. R2's got Nagios, a monitoring app, an IR controller, and the ability to project what's wrong for the people to see. The video illustrates how it works in a dramatically geeky manner. These should be standard issue in every server farm around the world. [Syun - Thanks Motohiro!]"
- I was a tad disappointed. If they went through that much trouble, they ought to have made R2 beep an alarm and wheel up to the closest intern dressed as Obi Wan Kenobi to display the failure report.

Steve Rose has cracked the Indy code over at his Cinematical blog, giving fans the ultimate comeback to Crystal Skull naysayers. It's hard to choose a favorite aspect out of this analysis, but I love the overall theme of the Indiana Jones movies as anti-neo-Hollywood, yet pro-early 20th century serial B-movie.

Not that I care. In fact, the mistakes probably make the film even more endearing to me since it makes the Indiana Jones serials even more similar to it's inspirational predecessors from the early 20th century. I have to wonder if or how many of the so-called mistakes are intentional.
Moviemistakes.com has updated the count from 48 to 57 in the last 24 hours (at the time of this posting). Hey, at least it means these people are really watching. And how appropriate is it that the amount of errors coincide with the year the film takes place? One of the most frequent errors in fact seems to be that certain props and other facts did not come about until the years after 1957.
Here are some of my favorites, with my ever-optimistic notes:
"Continuity: Throughout the whole movie, Irana's hair seems to be kept absolutely pristine, even when she is flung from cars. This is very noticable at the car chase in the military base when she is thrown from the car by Indy. One minute, a few strands of hair are slightly messed, then they are fixed again."
jk - In pretty much any movie from the 50s and before, the female characters have perfect hair.
"Factual error: In the scene when Indy and Mutt are flying to Peru, a Pan American Aircraft is shown. It is an Antonov AN-2. Pan Am never flew this Russian aircraft! Also, the shot is backwards; the writing on the aircraft (airline name and registration) read backwards."
"Continuity: When Mutt slams his fist on the table in the Diner the Ketchup and Mustard bottles fall over, the shot pans to Indiana's back and the bottles are standing up again, he tells Mutt to sit down, the camera pans back to Mutts back and the bottles are as they were after Mutt slammed the table and Indiana picks them both up."
"Plot hole: We are told in the film that the Conquistadors stole the skull. However, since Indiana has to use the skull to open the tomb that it came from, it would have been impossible for the Conquistadors to have opened the tomb to steal it in the first place."
jk - Um, perhaps the Conquistadors got the skull some other way?
"Factual error: In the scene where they are flying to Peru from US, they fly over a "map" of a Central America region and the country of Belize is shown. That country was the British Honduras until 1973. It was then renamed to Belize."
"Factual error: There is a shot of the exterior atomic test homes where we see child dummies playing on a slip-n-slide. That toy was not introduced by Wham-O until 1961."
"Visible crew/equipment: When Indy is tied to the chair and Spolka comes in to talk to him, in some shots of Spolka, to the lower left there is a crew member with headphones that is crouching down. He can only be seen in that shot of Spolka, but disappears in some of those as well."
"Factual error: During the fight in the rocket engine testing facility the countdown timer is of a type with electronic digital numbers. In 1957 the countdown timer would have been of a type of flipping numbers, which are mechanically changed as the timer counts down. See films like Fail Safe and Goldfinger for such clocks or timers. LED's weren't even invented until 1962."

If you're ever really bored or really too lazy to move more than a few fingers for clicking and scrolling, go to amazon.com and type in "star wars" in the search field. I dare ya. Here's a few search results among the gajillion that I couldn't not share (these are screen caps, so the links won't work - but if you click on the picture, you will see a bigger, better view)...
What I wanna know is if THIS IS A TOTAL SPOILER from the Legacy comics series??
I think some amazon sellers really haven't seen most of the Star Wars movies

Or maybe some of them have really bad eyesight? Get Star Wars mixed up with Xena?
To each their own I suppose
Ooh! A t-shirt SALE? W00t?

I don't get it. Don't try what exactly? And how do you become a professional? *rolls eyes*

We had a slight paw malfunction, but everything's alright now...
Thunder got a little slice on his paw that had to be bandaged up. It needed to be kept dry so we used the plastic freezer bag and tape method for trips outside. I got a few good giggles at watching the Bambi effect in action and realized plastic bags are amazingly slippery when used on frozen and snowy surfaces.
Eventually I took pity on the poor old wookiee and sought a solution...
Jedi socks!
I just couldn't help myself and had to share. These were originally kid-sized socks, but I indulged anyway. They're a perfect fit for T, and even have traction pads on the bottom.

Since everyone else is reporting it, I'm jumping aboard. I needed an excuse to post here anyway. I've been slacking (i.e. busy with life and playing Star Wars Lego: The Complete Saga)...
Earlier today at the Hasbro Fall 2007 Analyst Event, it was announced that the upcoming Star Wars animated series would premiere with a theatrical release in August 2008. When asked, Lucas Film LTD did not confirm, but simply offered that they are playing with different ideas to launch the series.

After all, what would a proper fan blog be without random news?
~ This one really caught my mind's eye: What if David Lynch directed ROTJ? (Thanks TFN) There would have probably been more bunnies involved... and it would have been much, much weirder.
~ The true meaning(s) of the Force.
~ An inspiring tale of a fan, a camera, and a journey. We're next Neil, except I'll stay in Tunisia while you head up to Finland ;)
~ Everything the tech geek in you wanted to know about LFL/ILM, and then some (Thanks Club Jade). No, this article doesn't tell you how to build a real lightsaber :(
~ Anyone who has any interest in this has probably already read the chat with Sue Rostoni over at The EU Cantina, but I'll post it anyway. This is a second hand post thanks to Thrawn's Expanded Universe blog.
~ Natalie and Hayden are voted to have the worst on-screen chemistry (Thanks Google News and everyone else who already blogged this). Yup. It made me cringe too. I still wish I were in Natalie Portman's shoes, but not the black leather number - nor about half of her other costumes. Still cringing.
~ I've been meaning to get the TPB edition of the Star Wars: Legacy first story arc Broken, but truthfully I'm less interested in actually reading it than I am in the discussions surrounding canon issues (really, I am too chicken that someone is going to kill off Luke, Leia and Han somewhere along the line, and reveal it in Legacy). But since one of my all time favorites, Obi-Wan, is being featured in issue #16, I'll probably pick up just this single issue. The question of Krayt should be answered!
~ Ian Anthony Assembles a Galaxy in Toronto. More collectors should show off their lewt this way IMO.
Did all you starwars.com members check your email and take the survey?
That's all I got for now.

This one has been around the net already, but I had to post it. The cos-players united in the groove, but otherwise the citizens of Tokyo don't want to admit to noticing. Must be an average day for them...

Some fans are gearing up to "cosplay" their favorite Star Wars fatalities revived as zombies and the like for D*C and maybe other cons (?). I'd love to do this for my first con ever, whenever that is.
Check it out here: http://echuta.net/zombies/
And thanks to the ever informative Club Jade for the decomposing heads up!

I don't know that I'd call it spoilers just yet, but The Force.Net has been keeping us up to date with absolutely any Indy info they can get their mittens on. It's largely production info, but knowledge of certain actors possibly joining the cast may be considered a spoiler of sorts. This is probably not for the ultra-sensitive, but for the most part, you've probably heard some of this stuff anyway:
Indy 4 Rumors With Possible Spoilers from The Force.Net
aaand...
Something I've been playing around with for awhile, and finally got around to touching up... In the spirit of Indy IV going into production, 9FF4 brings you:
iNDY! (click for larger view, and/or see below for the better version)
For some reason, Indy with the iPod just doesn't do it for me. The design idea with the silhouette and lettering, since Indy begins with the letter I and all, seemed fun. But the iPod itself is just really un-Indy. So, check out the version without the silly little i..thingus:
iNDIANA
Ahh, maybe this will get reworked again. The Indy image comes from the marvelous poster artist for Indiana Jones, Star Wars, and many more; Drew Struzan.
Feel free to use any of those for a desktop or your own Indy fun :)
A couple of other fan Indy sites:
The Raider.net
The Indy Experience (not updated in quite some time, but lots of cool images and other info)
Why snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?

Scroll down the page slowly now!

We wouldn't want anyone to get hurt here :)

*The following was a birthday "e-card" of sorts for amidalooine*
(There was some other stuff before the fangirl indulgence below)
Sooo, now that we've had some cake, how about some eye candy, yes? I know this will give ami a little thrill (and heck, me too). An ode to the hottie(s - Mostly Anakin/Hayden... but I just couldn't stop there) of Star Wars. I tried to make these live strippers, but I haven't mastered that Force trick yet :D
*SIGH*
And ummm........

Ummmm.... hokay. Maybe this will have to tie it up. I'll be back. Sorry to all you boys. All little fangirl tangent here ;)
So, I'll REALLY end with this one... even though there are so many more great pictures. I'll just have to post more later. The saga continues indeed. Happy birthday dear friend!!
